The caravan of love left today, the first step in dismantling the compound. Appropriately our love birds were here to see the handover to Alan and Sue who are experienced caravanners, taking the exit from the garden at an impressive speed!

Friday was the first day in some time that we had no trades here. We took the opportunity to wander about and sweep through, but the heatwave has slowed us down and during the day we’ve been sheltering inside, coming out in the evenings to garden and water. We hope you and your gardens have survived the heat.

Chris has taken on the job of applying a coating to the render which should help it to keep its colour. It’ll take the rest of the summer to work his way round. We never thought we’d miss the scaffold …

The lack of rain has revealed the footprint of another previous structure. We don’t think it’s anything interesting, most likely another post-war poultry shed. We haven’t given up finding some photos of the garden’s past. We can also see in the grass the route of the shallow sewer that served the bungalow. We’ll be connecting into that in the next couple of weeks, a key task before moving in. Very exciting – the thought of moving in, not the sewer connection!

  1. Slightly too many photos of Sue, Alan and the Caravan (which sounds like a 60’s folk band) and not enough of the house, which looks great in the last photo !
Great to see your flowers and veg bursting forth !
    Nearly there-fantastic.
