James and Charlie had a few days with us and we now have some loos and bathroom basins in place (but no water yet) …

Having finished the floor tiles, Dean and Matt have switched to wall tiling in the showers …

And we have some bling from Aaron and Dylan in the form of LED lighting in the bedroom corridor and dayroom …

Along with a very sexy extractor fan that rises up out of the kitchen island …

The progress inside is very satisfying as we move onto some finishing touches. It is exciting but, to be honest, we’re now struggling to get excited. We’re exhausted and want the house finished – well, it won’t be “finished” for a while, so we mean habitable, clean, free of tradesmen (even though we love them!) etc. We feel we’ve put plenty of things to bed and behind us, yet there seems to remain choices and decisions to be made, more cash flooding out, and endless scope to make more mistakes or accept compromises. The good news is that we feel sufficiently confident that we’ve set a date for the delivery of our furniture from storage – 26th July – ready or not, it’s coming!
Sorry to moan; we shouldn’t and we realise we’re very fortunate, but we’re simply drained, emotionally and physically. The heat perhaps doesn’t help …
Just reading your latest blog and the song ‘reasons to be cheerful’ springs to mind, come on the finish line is in sight, Gens fantastic news, how exciting, the best news ever.
