We’ve had to cancel and drop out of several nice events that were lined up this week. Bev’s birthday was probably her dullest ever but neighbour Paul’s honey cake cheered us both up. We found a couple of steaks in the freezer and Bev’s dry January came to an end.
It’s been a busy week for big machines and mud, with Page and Gavin rattling through the sewer connections and digging the trenches for the ground source heat pump. The three trenches are 50 metres long across the bottom of the garden and then two pipes – inflow and outflow – wind their way back to and round the house to the plant room where there’ll be some clever kit that feeds the underfloor heating and provides hot water. We hope it’ll work!!

We’ve lost Curtis so Dave has been working alone until Mark and Ewan appeared to help towards the end of the week. They did indeed appear to help and the larch cladding to the first storey is now rolling out.

Love the cladding but I’m so sad to see the trenches through Bev’s excellent mowed lawn!
