The 38 tonne crane left today. A different operator came to collect it and was in such a rush to leave that he thought it would be a good idea to cut the corner on the drive. The first, and we hope, only big cock-up so far.

It took all day to dig out, eventually reinforcements had to be summoned, and the driver had to be reminded to watch his industrial language. The crane blocked our drive all day so it was a big relief when it finally went as we feared that all our builders would have to spend the night in our ”guest” accommodation. The casualties were the edge of the drive, and the scaffolding which couldn’t be finished. And Chris’s nerves.
Big Sympathy! We experienced a similar scene with our drive when a feisty skip driver did the same during our barn conversion works. A local farmer had to pull him free with his tractor! The drive will recover and hopefully Chris too. Onwards and upwards!
