Socialising after the relaxation of the lockdown restrictions has been fun and has meant that we’ve hardly progressed on ‘the project’ at all. Time that we’ve had in the garden has been spent mowing and strimming, trying to keep things under control as everything grows in the warmth, the sunshine and the rain showers.

We’d like to think that we’re in the lull before the storm, and we have our groundworkers booked back in for the first half of August when the building site will get knocked into proper shape. Chris can’t wait until there are some big machines here again! Also the timber frame company is finalising the design for our approval, and this will then set the timetable for the building coming out of the ground in the autumn.

Russ and Sue added another caravan to the encampment for a couple of nights, while caravanning virgins, Fergus and Meriel, generously gave a positive assessment of our ‘spare room’. The amusing hat competition was keenly contested by Fergus and Sue … Dulcie enjoyed entertaining Billy and Sooty.

And then we had more Exeter alumni on Saturday when Jos and Jane and Mike paid a visit to the garden (and the pub) – but too late for the hat competition.

As we publish these pictures, we realise that keen-eyed readers may recognise the regular reappearance of the same meals. As catering is severely restricted by the confines of the caravan and our kitchenware being in storage (who knows where?) we have to rely on the same limited menu. So apologies to all guests, past and future!

    1. Chris and Bev, thanks so much for great day yesterday, the food was gorgeous. It was great to see you both Alexander and I had not seen you for over a year, once again thank you so much and we look forward to seeing how you adventure unfolds.
