Matt and Tristan are with us again this week and we’re hoping to get lots done. The most pressing job is for Matt and his digger to prepare the trench through the site for the diverted electric cable that will be laid next week. Great progress today until Matt reached the bungalow footprint where we found the demolition guys had missed digging out some of the foundation, slap bang in the way!
Tristan got to grips with extending the water diversion pipe – it now goes right round the building area – and set our wood pile ablaze.
The very disappointing and frustrating news is from the planners, telling us they need another few weeks to determine the application for the house because there are ‘significant delays’ in the admin department … That means a process that has a target timescale of eight weeks could end up taking 17. You read plenty about flaws and lack of resources in the planning system but we reckon Prince Philip would have had some helpful suggestions : “Get on with it!, Pull your finger out! Get a move on! etc”. RIP HRH

Sorry to hear about the delays in planning. It must be so frustrating for you.
The whole process is inefficient, non-deterministic and frankly not fit for purpose.
I’m sure HRH would have been a lot more forthright in response.
Keeping my fingers crossed they determine in your favour and soon.
cheers
Graham
