It’s Bev’s birthday today and she was over-the-moon with her favourite present – the last remaining six fencing panels. Better still, Henry popped by as a surprise – first time we’ve seen him since Christmas – to say hello and indulge in some socially-distanced fencing.

The craftsmen at Burfitt and Garrett are really cracking on with things now. Lee has reseated the stone on the well that had been lifted by a massive ivy and then cemented in (not using lime) as part of a poor repair in the past.

Trevor and Tim have been roof-tiling on the west gate and Dave has completed a new frame for the door that leads to the old gardener’s cottage and needs to hold up the deteriorated wellhouse wall. There’s a gentle brick arch above this door which Lee will rebuild tomorrow.

Our new best friend is the Karcher window vac. Chris is particularly keen! Condensation is a problem when you’re living in a tin can and it’s warm inside and cold outside – especially when we cook. So no cooking then ….

Lovely to see the progress and Happy Birthday Bev from Caroline and Jeremy xx

A belated Happy Birthday to Bev. I will now be able to remember as my mother’s is 27th too. Progress is being made – i like the attention to detail – might try YOUR vac thing as living in a Victorian house with limited double glazing plenty of condensation here- should have got ones of these a while ago best
