Clouds House in this morning’s mist

Our first night in the caravan on Saturday was something of a shock it was so cold – very cold! Bev finally got up at 6am, put the heating on and huddled around a cup of tea with Dulcie. More layers required …. !

Today has been a day for getting organised. Our extensive collection of cleansing materials and our less impressive collection of booze has been transferred over to one of the containers.

We also need to have a further consolidation of clothes now that we’ve come to our senses and can see how small the caravan is. Chris has a suit, a selection of ties, two waistcoats and numerous jumpers and yet has worn the same clothes for the last month, so he’ll be bundling up another load for Jenny’s spare room in Bedford. Bev’s been no wiser with two party dresses and a handbag for every occasion!

Our neighbour, Nigel, popped round this afternoon and showed us where one of the brickmakers, a John Howell, scratched his name in a couple of the wall bricks before they were fired about 140 years ago. They’re at eye-level but still easy to miss.
