A team of renderers have started applying the render to the first storey. There’ll be two coats – the grey base coat and then a colour-through top coat which for us will be a chalky white. Dean and Mat starting tiling today. On top of a (very expensive) anti-cracking mat they’re laying our big 1.2mx1.2m porcelain tiles. They’re difficult to manoeuvre but once down, cover the floor quickly. We’re going for random spacing – to suit our mood and reduce off-cuts.
A good stride forwards today as some paint starts going on walls and ceilings. We wanted the high ceiling in the day room painted while the platform was still up and, via Aaron the electrician, we came across paint sprayers, Kieran, James and James. It’s so quick!
