The units for the laundry and the pantry are in. These will help us get organised.

One of the artists in the village (of which there are several), Simon, has very kindly offered us a long term loan of one of his sculptures which has been languishing out of sight at his old school. We’re very honoured to be the custodian of his untitled piece, carved from a two-tonne block of Bath Stone. It was a bit hairy getting it delivered but it sits on Matt’s plinth very nicely.

There are clearly two figures but we can’t agree if they’re in an embrace or a struggle. Simon is non-commital about the inspiration behind the carving but he does believe there is tension (and Bev agrees with him!) …

In other artistic installation news … the stair case has at long last gone in. The glass sides will be another six weeks or so which means we probably won’t get Building Regs through for a while and we’ll keep the temporary metal one in place.

Plaited onions to dry

And a last look at the sculpture from the bedroom corridor. It was always the plan to have something eye-catching through the end window.
