We hope you’ve all had a lovely long weekend, celebrating HM’s Platinum Jubilee. Gen came for a few days which always gives us a lift. She caught the train to Warminster on Thursday and then walked a pretty 15 mile route to East Knoyle – a great effort. Chris joined her for the second half from the delightful Deverill villages, including a not-so-delightful dash across the A303.

The village held a super party on Windmill Hill above us, including the lighting of a beacon that could be seen from large chunks of Dorset and Somerset. So many people volunteered to make it a really well-organised and fun event. Our contribution was most of the pallets and waste firewood for the beacon – I know, I know, a rather self-interested contribution given it’s been accumulating over the last year or so …

It burned very well – think The Wicker Man! Lucky we didn’t have the thunder and lightning and biblical downpours we had last night!
