Trying to get – and keep – the house dry enough for the critical airtightness work is proving very stressful and difficult. A delay in this, which is scheduled in 10 days’ time, will throw the programme for all the upcoming trades, but in turn needs work done by our window people and preferably (though this won’t happen) our roofers.

This morning a combination of various stresses and worries, at the end of a week of isolation, meant we hit what we hope will be a nadir; the first “wish we hadn’t started this” moment. It’s hard to deal with the see-saw of emotions that is building a house.

But Chris has spent the day taping up gaps and covering (and recovering) areas that will be “zinced” in the future. And Gen and Ollie popped in for a morale booster and Henry’s coming to help tomorrow. So this evening we’re feeling more positive and to help, Bev has tested negative.

Also, the rainwater harvesting tank is in and the wall is still up!

Don’t try this at home!
