Today we had the second delivery of windows and doors which were skilfully craned into position.

Unfortunately there was one mishap and the big window in the last photo toppled over a few minutes later and smashed…. Oops!

So we’ll have another delivery in a month’s time – new glass and aluminium skin but the wooden frame itself is okay. Ouch. Weighing in at getting on for half a tonne, it was lucky no one was underneath it …

Another new team started today, installing the rubber membrane to the flat roofs. We’re blessed with dry weather in the run up to Christmas. Not an entirely satisfactory first day, with Jose (sub-contractor, Colombian) spending much of the day arguing with our contractor on what had or hadn’t been agreed and his side-kick managing to glue his hands together with the adhesive. The day finished with ”See you on Monday, Jose” – “Well, I’m not sure I’m coming back”. Some weekend negotiations needed and let’s hope next week Jose and co. get properly stuck in …
