Back to work for us both on what is forecast to be the last damp day for a while. Hurrah! Between showers Bev has been painting the potting shed doors and windows a shade of green – ‘wood sage’ – that will match the greenhouse when and if it ever arrives, the current date being in October. And Chris is at last carrying on with the first raised beds. We decided that three sleepers high was excessive and we’re going for two instead.

Dulcie needed another impromptu trim in order to remove an all-over mat of goose-grass burrs after a contre-temps with a squirrel. Squirrels are systematically taking the cob nuts so we’d be happy if she could despatch a few …

In other wildlife news, a badger or fox has used the bog garden as its bog! Maybe we were asking for it …

Chris had his first bell-ringing lesson at the church this evening. Ding dong!
