No more Euros, no more Wimbledon, no more distractions and excuses to not be working in the garden, no more torrential rain?! Apart from warming up suppliers and contractors, there’s a limit to what we can do on the house. Our main contractor, MBC of Gloucester, is finalising the design of the timber frame, and when that’s done and signed off, will be completing the design of the foundation slab which will include a decision on whether we need piling or not. Then perhaps we can get a proper timetable together, but bold statements of ‘we’ll be in by Christmas’ have slipped to ‘by Easter?’
Lee finished the current lot of wall repairs and in tidying up afterwards we’ve accumulated our own little reclamation yard of materials and ‘tat’. Lee has placed all the top coping bricks we have and the rest of the wall-top repairs will now wait until we can get some new ones specially manufactured. We also need to buy some bull-nose bricks before we get Lee back to repair some of the buttresses.
Jim the Mole-Catcher has been here a few times over the last fortnight – Jim 5 – Moles 0. Very pleased as the moles had been making a real mess. With the wall’s foundations around us it’s just possible that if we can despatch all of the moles within the garden, new ones won’t find their way back in … A naive hope perhaps?!
Grass and weeds – plenty of weeds – are all growing fast and a day’s mowing has given us a bit of a grass management challenge…

In other housing news, the spare room is made up!
