So today was the big day. Hoards of Connect IT chaps were back to connect up the two ends of the new cable and remove the redundant poles and cable. They were business-like and proficient, with numerous vehicles and bits of kit. What seemed like a big deal to us must be the equivalent of re-wiring a plug to them – the wires and fuses are just a bit bigger!

While the power was switched off the last tree surgery was done for the time-being on the trees on the western side that hang over the cables and wall. Sadly it looks like we’ll have to have Tom and the chaps back again in the next year or so – bad for the trees and our bank balance. We need to wait until June to be sure, they say, but it looks like the half a dozen ash to the north have die-back and will have to come down in due course.

Andy and Dean popped in and as ever had words of wisdom and encouragement. Chris likes their suggestion that maybe it would be worth getting a mini-digger for all the landscaping that’s on its way but he has a questionable history with machines!
