We’ve had our last day of digger heaven, with Ben and Mark finishing the crushing and Gavin and Billy the soil-stripping. It’s been great having them here – and they’ve dramatically transformed the site in the last 10 days or so – but it’ll be nice to be rid of the noise and disruption, to have the garden back to ourselves. We can also take a breather and plan what we tackle next.

While we had the big machines on site we were able to finally sort out the filter bed (or whatever it was). The unfeasibly thick concrete base is out and the area re-soiled ready to be reseeded.

While the big boys and their big toys have been doing the heavy lifting, we’ve done what we can. Bev’s current job is painting the stable door for the bothy.

“Yes, I’ve missed a bit”
